TACHYON VPN: Internet Privacy Made Easy
I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted by a rather clean interface and since no alarm bells rang, I decided to try it out and connect. Upon connection, I was checked if the VPN was working. I did this by going to https://www.whatismyipaddress.com on my phone's browser to see if it shows my actual location. Lo and behold, whatismyipaddress.com thinks I was at Sydney, Australia! "whatismyipaddress.com" is fairly accurate in determining one's location based on the IP address being reported by a user's browser. It often accurately pinpoints my current IP address and location but not this time!
So what's the implication of this cursory test of Tachyon VPN? This means that running it in the background while connected to the internet does the job of hiding by real IP address and location thus providing me with a layer of protection in terms of privacy. Of course this does not mean that no one can track me while using Tachyon VPN. I still need to do a lot of things to ensure total online privacy but this will be a good start!
As of today (May 10, 2020), Tachyon VPN is only available on OSX, iOS and Android. According to their website, Windows version is coming soon. I can't wait!
